On March 5th 2015, MARTiAL YOU started a new Olympic Taekwondo program for youth and adults in the Brewer community. Classes are held Thursday evenings at 34 Abbot Street in Brewer, home of Team Irish MMA Fitness Academy and Gracie Barra BJJ. One of our main goals is to create and grow lasting collaborations with other martial arts organizations in Maine to widen our mission's impact and increase opportunities for those who can benefit from martial arts. We believe this program will do just that!
PROGRAM
Olympic Style Taekwondo Basics / WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) Style
TAEKWONDO - Korea: "The way of the hand and foot" - a modern martial art from Korea that is characterised by its fast, high and spinning kicks. It combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise, and in some cases meditation and philosophy. In 1989, Taekwondo was the world's most popular martial art in terms of number of practitioners. Gyeorugi, a type of sparring, has been an Olympic event since 2000.

Thursdays:
Kids ages 7 to 14 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm
Ages 14-Adult - 7:15pm to 8:15pm
BASIC PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Week One - The Basics (footwork / stances / blocks / strikes / falls)
Week Two – Forms, one steps and self-defense techniques
Week Three – Basic Olympic style kicking techniques and drills (Gear Required!)
Week Four – Basic sparring (Gear Required!)

$30 per month (4 classes per month)

It is always recommended you stop by and observe classes before registering or enrolling in the program. Chat with the instructor either before or after classes to get any questions you may have answered. Be aware of the PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS and make sure you are in full agreement with them before jumping on board.
UNIFORMS
If you do not own a Taekwondo Dobok / Uniform we can assist you with getting one. The order form is in the REGISTRATION PACKET and also available separately by clicking the unifom pictured to your right.
Kids Basic Uniforms are $25
Adult Basic Uniforms are $35
It usually takes about 1 week or more to get an order processed due to the screen printing process.
